Q.   What do I need to take with me to the polls to vote?

A.  At your polling place, you will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs:

  • SC Driver's license
  • ID card issued by the SC Department of Motor Vehicles
  • SC Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • US Passport

Q.  What if I don't have one of these Photo IDs?

COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 30, 2014) - To help ensure voters are prepared for the November 4 General Election, the State Election Commission wants to remind everyone of the upcoming voter registration deadline and urge those already registered to update their information.

TO VOTE IN THE 2014 GENERAL ELECTION, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY OCTOBER 4.

(September 18, 2014) - The South Carolina State Election Commission, along with Americans across the nation, will be celebrating National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.  This is a nationwide effort to register voters before the upcoming election in November.  This year's theme is Celebrating Democracy in America, encouraging individuals to exercise one of our most basic rights in America:  the right to vote!

2014 Primary Runoff FAQs

Q.  If I voted in one party's primary on June 10, can I vote in the other party's runoff on June 24?

A.   No.  If you voted in one party's primary, you can vote only in the runoff of the same party.  In  other words, if you voted in the Democratic Primary, you are limited to the Democratic Runoff; if you voted in the Republican Primary, you are limited to the Republican Runoff.

Q.  I didn't vote on June 10.  Can I vote in the runoff?
